Pilates specially designed for pregnancy with Pilates instructors is fully qualified and able to teach pregnant and post-natal women.
The exercises in these classes are focused on the abdominal, back and pelvic floor muscles, which are very important when it comes to childbirth. Pregnancy Pilates focuses on mobility, balance, strength and coordination in order to reduce pregnancy aches and pains and help speed up postnatal recovery. Also great for boosting energy during pregnancy!
Reformer Pilates uses a Pilates Reformer Machine and can bring quicker results to people looking to Pilates for their rehabilitation from injury, or those who have been doing mat-based Pilates classes for some time. The Reformer Machine gives additional resistance to Pilates exercises via the use of the springs built into the machine. The Reformer Machine forms the original basis of Pilates creator Joseph Pilates idea for Pilates, he designed his first machine for patients in a hospital bed recovering from injury.
Reformer Pilates can be an enhancement to mat based Pilates as the number of exercises available is greatly increased providing far more variety. The exercises usually work muscles through a wider range of motion which is ideal for building and toning muscles as well as increasing stability through the joints. Reformer Pilates works more areas than mat based work as the reformer works the entire body providing enhanced exercises for the peripheral muscles of the arms and legs.
